Sunrise and Smiles: Our Black Friday Engagement Shoot at Riverwest Festival Park
When it came time to capture our engagement photos, we knew the perfect place: Riverwest Festival Park. This isn’t just any park—it’s where the world-renowned Tulsa Oktoberfest is held each year. For Laurie, this place is deeply special. She’s been involved in Oktoberfest for years, and David has made a tradition of joining her there for Bavarian delicacies and good times. It felt only fitting to capture this chapter of our lives in a location with so much personal meaning.
We chose Black Friday morning at sunrise for our photos, embracing the quiet beauty of the early hours. It was freezing—definitely one of those mornings where you question leaving the warmth of your bed—but the promise of golden light and cherished memories won out.
To make the shoot even more personal, we brought along Laurie’s dad’s Cosworth Vega, a classic car with its own unique charm. The sleek lines of the Vega paired with the iconic Tulsa skyline created the perfect backdrop. It wasn’t just about the car, though—it was about honoring family and weaving our story into every detail of this special shoot.
None of this would’ve been possible without the help of a dear friend and talented photographer who graciously braved the chilly morning with us. Having someone who understood our vision and could bring it to life meant the world. Their presence made the experience even more enjoyable and ensured the moments were captured beautifully.
Looking back, the morning felt magical. The cold melted away as we laughed, cuddled up for warmth, and celebrated this exciting new chapter in our lives. Riverwest Festival Park, the Cosworth Vega, the Tulsa skyline, and the promise of our future together—it all came together in a way that feels like us.
We’re so excited to share these photos and, even more so, our journey with all of you. Stay tuned as we continue to plan for the big day—every moment feels like a new adventure, and we’re so grateful to have you along for the ride.
