Back on Track: Our Engagement Journey, Delayed but Not Derailed

Picture this: your engagement announcements arrive—beautifully printed, filled with joy, and featuring the two of you wrapped up in sweaters, glowing with excitement. And on that very same day, one of you is unexpectedly let go from work. The timing was surreal.
Suddenly, we were staring down a hard choice. Do we hit pause and hold off on sending the announcements until we figure out what comes next? Or do we move forward, knowing those cozy winter photos might not match a timeline that just shifted dramatically?
We chose hope. We mailed them out, not wanting to announce the unexpected glitch to our plans. We figured: the love is still real, the commitment is still strong—why not share that joy, even if the next step would take longer than we thought?
Looking back, we’re actually so glad we never set a date. What felt like indecision at the time turned out to be a gift. Our timeline shifted, and if we’d locked ourselves into a calendar, we would’ve had to unravel even more. Not setting a date gave us the flexibility to regroup without added pressure.
Now, nearly five months later, we’re thrilled to say we’re back to planning! It will still take time to save for the elopement we envision, but we’re just as dedicated to creating a private, intentional celebration—one that’s beautifully documented and shared with the people who mean the most to us.
Life threw us a curveball, but love kept us grounded. The path forward may look a little different, but the destination is still the same—and just as meaningful. Stay tuned—our story is still unfolding, and the best chapters are yet to come.
