The Proposal – Part 2
Picture this: I’m in full-on evening chaos mode—running gear scattered in preparation for a training run, makeup off, glasses on, and fully moisturized, ready for bed. Suddenly, David calls me into his office. I stumble in, feeling more like a feral raccoon than a bride-to-be, and he asks, “Why have you been so cranky lately?”
I respond with a quick “I’m not,” instantly wondering if I have been and just hadn’t noticed it.
Before I can muster more of a response, he pulls out the ring we designed together. My jaw drops. He says, “I wanted to give you something.”
Knowing I was anything but camera-ready and desperately wanting to take a photograph of the moment—but not like this—I tried to hold him off when I saw the box. (Photographer brain kicking in! )
I blink, utterly speechless. “Was I really that cranky?” I manage to ask.
David chuckles and replies, “No, it was just the only way I could think of to get you to slow down.”
Turns out, he had wanted to plan a grand proposal, but impatience got the best of him. And honestly? His spontaneous, heartfelt proposal was perfect.
So there I stood, makeup off and heart full, saying yes to forever with the love of my life. And really, this fits us—doing things quietly at first before telling others is more our style.
