Gratitude for Embracing Our Journey
When work spouses evolve
A heartfelt thank you for supporting us in our non-traditional journey as we step into our next chapter. We acknowledge that eloping isn’t everyone’s choice, and your understanding and support mean the world to us. Your love and encouragement make this unique path even more special. Cheers to embracing the beauty of individual love stories!
We wanted to take a moment to explain why we decided to set up this website. With our friends and family scattered all over the globe, it’s been hard for many of you to see us together as a couple. We hope this website helps you feel more connected to our journey and lets you be part of our elopement in a meaningful way.

David’s Brother
Hmmm. David. My little baby brother. That little kid that stole a live lobster from the kitchen chopping block and tried to hide it in his closet as a pet. That child with the goofy grin and the propensity to spontaneously burst into my room during the denouement of an epic HE-Man vs. Transformers battle. My kid brother that co-scrubbed living room walls with me after we got into one too many wrestling matches and Mom was tired of our crap. The boy that was my stalwart companion in the corner when we both got too rowdy at kitchen table with the peas.
I’m not really sure what can be said about David that everyone doesn’t already know. Speaking to his openness and kindness would be futile since you only have to talk to him for five minutes to understand that these are innate to the core who he is. If I were to tell someone of his capacity for love, they would wave me off as saying too little or not having a wide enough vocabulary to express it precisely enough. Should I delve into the loyalty he generously expresses to friends and family, one might think I’m underplaying just how all encompassing and fierce it is. And if I were to boast about my pride in his amazing work ethic, his ability to broaden his perspective,or his devotion to Laurie, some may scold me for leaving out how well he adapts to new circumstances and ideas while balancing that with a respect for tradition and history. Or they may gently remind me to include how well he can pass along his knowledge, or how easily he fits into diverse social situations or how gracefully he forgives when slighted. Or any of the hundreds of other qualities I wish I had in his abundance.
Indeed, there are not a lot of words out there that I can provide that would fully encompass the scope of my baby brothers epic qualities, so I will simply state that David is a shining example of how to succeed in living happy. I am proud to call him my brother and of the man that he has turned out to be. Wish he’d tied the knot with Laurie sooner tho!!

Laurie’s Person
Laurie and I have been friends for so long, I almost don’t want to admit the number of years! I remember when we met in fourth grade; back then I saw a girl shining with personality, sass, and integrity, and that has remained. Since then we’ve had numerous sleepovers, dance parties, chili cheese coneys, movie nights, and so many conversations about anything and everything you could imagine. We’ve made each other laugh so hard we cried, cruised around Dallas in the passenger seats of a convertible Shelby, and been to botanic gardens together. We’ve seen each other through deployments and marriages (and misadventures with stuffed bears!), played so many games of CAH together, and leaned on each other through thick and thin. I’ll never be able to fathom what life would have been like if we didn’t have each other, and I love her more than I could ever describe.
My greatest piece of advice for you is to do what you’ve been doing! Love each other, treat each other with respect, and always have each other’s backs.
Liz
Laurie’s first Best Friend
My friend Laurie and I have technically known one another since I was born…BUT we really became close after my dad died and my mom and I moved from Wisconsin down to Oklahoma to be closer to my moms family! It was a really emotional time for me AND having a friend that was as close as family to be with made it so much easier. We spent our weekends watching our moms line dance or eating cheesy popcorn and watching movies. Lauries friendship was a safe place in a really unsure time. Through the years we have weaved in and out of our day to day lives BUT I have always known my friend Laurie was there for me. I am so excited to see her find her match in David. Cutting his hair for a few years helped me get to know the awesome guy she will be spending her life with!! I love it and I love you BOTH!! .
My best advice is to make sure you look each other in the eyes everyday! Even just for a second. Reconnect over and over as each day brings a new adventure!

The Proposal – Part 2
Picture this: I’m in full-on evening chaos mode—running gear scattered in preparation for a training run, makeup off, glasses on, and fully moisturized, ready for bed. Suddenly, David calls me into his office. I stumble in, feeling more like a feral raccoon than a bride-to-be, and he asks, “Why have you been so cranky lately?”…
The Proposal – Part 1
On May the 4th, a day celebrated by Star Wars fans around the world, my partner David surprised me with a proposal that left me speechless. Little did I know that this day, known as Star Wars Day, would mark the beginning of our journey towards forever. The ring David presented me with was no…
